mouse-borne plague, a deadly disease that spreads through the bites of infected fleas, direct contact with infected animals or consumption of contaminated food. The symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes (buboes) and in some cases, pneumonia.

But is it as terrifying as people make it out to be? In reality, thanks to the efforts of health workers across China, the number of new mouse plague cases each year is barely into double digits. Historically speaking however, this disease has had three major outbreaks in the past when there were no effective treatments available. The poem "Mouse Death" by Shisou Nan vividly describes the fear and devastation caused by this illness:

"In days gone by,

When mice died en masse,

People shunned them like tigers.

The dead mice did not last long,

Yet human lives were cut short like a siege;

Daylight faded early amidst clouds and grief."

The poem highlights how quickly deaths occurred during those times without treatment.

In terms of global distribution, areas marked in red on maps indicate regions where rodents can carry and spread plaque bacteria. So while traveling abroad or domestically avoid coming into contact with these animals or their habitats and take precautions against flea bites.

Now let's talk about what happens if you contract mouse plague: typical symptoms include high fever above 39°C accompanied by painful swelling at armpits or groin area; coughing blood along with difficulty breathing are signs for severe lung infection which spreads rapidly.

If you suspect having contracted mouse plague after being exposed to rodents within 1-9 days following exposure; isolate yourself from others immediately if possible call emergency services at 120/999 describing your condition before seeking help elsewhere especially outdoors where medical assistance may be delayed further exacerbating risks for both yourself & others nearby since hospitals won't quarantine all patients who could have been exposed simultaneously but rather only report them to ensure timely treatment begins once identified as such – even local clinics will do so!
