Therefore their structural principle does not belong to a porous structure like ceramic rings, bio-rings and beneficial bacteria houses so it's fundamentally different from traditional fish tank filtration materials. So when selecting filtration materials for our fish tanks, we should choose: physical filter medium + biological filter medium + traditional biological filtration material (ceramic rings, bio-rings and beneficial bacteria houses).

Then comes the question of how to arrange these filters in our fish tanks' filtration systems. This has been discussed before with friends - it follows the 80/20 rule: 80% of the space in our fish tanks' filters should be given over to biological filters while 20% should be used for physical filtering mediums.

It's quite simple really because our fish tanks' filters primarily serve to cultivate certain beneficial microorganisms which help maintain healthy water conditions by consuming waste products produced by both your aquatic plants and animals. They support your aquarium system while also being crucial for maintaining healthy life among its inhabitants - second only to regular partial water changes.

These small-scale units containing white physical filtering mediums can be selected but all units containing white filtering mediums must regularly be cleaned (preferably during routine water changes) because they easily become clogged up inside. Clogging will prevent proper oxygenation during operation rendering it unable to execute its role in maintaining continuous circulation within your aquarium system. When cleaning out white filtering mediums use warm water but do not completely wash them out or rinse them off lest you inadvertently destroy any attached microbes living thereon which are essential for effective purification processes within your aquarium environment!
